Arizona Highways

Today (6-12-2006) we concluded a ten day road trip across much of Arizona. We figured we covered at least 1500 miles. The word on our trip - "We love Arizona!" It's wide open, varied, hot, stunning, full of interesting weather, beautiful, peaceful, awesome! Below are just a few of the pics from our travels. The shot above is from the south rim of the Grand Canyon. The first time for everyone but Cathy.

This one's from a jeep trip in the back roads of Sedona. Breathtaking.

Here we have a watermelon eating contest at the Westin Kierland in Scottsdale. Did I mention Arik came in second?

This is one of my favorites, an Arizona Agave in bloom outside Sedona. The plant can live up to eighty years according to our guide and blooms but once in its lifetime, whereupon the entire plant quickly succumbs to death. We just happened to be in the right place at the right time.
For anyone interested, I'm thrilled to report that the California Dream (beautiful, open, clean environment for a reasonable price) still exists - in Arizona!
